Melafix

My clown has taken a beating by my puff and lfs said to use melafix to help the fins. Has anyone used it and will it affect my water quality? I just did a water change a week ago.

my lfs suggested melafix as a treatment for ick ha ha it did nothing fish still died it did not hurt water quality though but the question i would ask myself is do i want to continuosly put melafix in my system every time my clown is attacked maybe (and just maybe) one needs to go

I agree that one fish might have to go, but I don't want to do something quite yet. I will give it a couple of days and see if things are better.

I have had luck with mela fix. It treated eye clowd very fast, and fixed up a huge gash on a tang fast also. But it doesn't do anything for ich. I would use it to try to heal the fins. But fins take a long time to heal and repair. Sometimes it's not worth it.

I just started using this stuff, does anyone know if it is safe to double dose? My fairy wrasse has been ill lately and I just started treating him yesterday, it's been about 6 days since he ate, so i would like to try to accelerate this to work before he starves to death.
any input would be great

Melafix works well on gashes and I had luck using it against pop eye. Trying it against freashwater ick but not too good. For what you want (to heal a wound) it should work.
