I am pretty new to the game but here is what I know the U.V. sterilizer will break the cycle of the ick and it should not hurt any inverts or anything else in your tank the only reason not tho run one that I know of is if you are cycling a new tank the reason is that it sterilzes the water and takes out bacteria and stuff like that
I hope this helps you out

also on my U.V. sterilizer it mounts on the outside of the tank and you use a power head to get the water to and from it :)

I thought that a U.V. will kill the paracites in the water, and break the cycle I understand that you will still need to treat the fish for the original problem If I am wrong please set me straight ;)

Thank's Terry
the U.V. sterilizer I just got is rated for 125 gallons the guy at the LFS said that I need at least 50gph and no more than 100gph moving through it
mine is at 68gph
is that enough to do the job?
thank you
Alan

So in other words, a UV sterilizer in a single tank system is useless? If this is the case, what is the best procedure in your experience to "rid ich" of a tank that is full of inverts and live rock. I don't have a QT to put the inverts in. I guess one of the pivotal questions in this scenario is "do inverts function as a vector for the parasites?" I would appreciate your thoughts Terry.
