Mermaids Wineglass

Hey all,
I just wanted to share something with ya'll. I've never been able to get any mermaids wineglass to grow in any of my tanks if I buy it through a dealer. Then, out of the middle of no where, it pops out and grows out of one of my pieces of live rock. The tank is clean of all hair algae. (I run an algae scrubber) and halimeda and mermaids wineglass is just taking off. It looks pretty cool too. I like the look of both of them, I may continue to let them grow in my tank. :D
I'll take pics when I get around to it. :D

Mermaid's wineglass (Acetabularia crenulata) is gorgeous stuff that has shown up a few times for us, but it's hard to keep growing, and usually dies out. It's partially calcareous, and an interesting fact is the "wineglass" is composed of a single large cell.
Kudos if you can keep it growing, esp. with a ATS on the system.

I'm going to try to keep it going! I didn't know about the single cell thing. Thats really cool. I'll post pics when I can.
The ate system is making all sorts of critters and sponges grow that you normally don't get to see in abundance.

Oddly enuff, you'd be surprised at what constitutes a single cell in marco algae...I sure was.
