well the light is farily new, but today i noticed that the bulb is broken!

the light bulb itself works, but the glass around it broke off. its a single ended bulb btw. its the the upper part of the bulb. can i keep it like this, or super glue the other end back on, or do i have to buy another bulb?
i'll post pics up in a minute

get a new bulb if this one shatters it can cause injury, electrocution, and or get glass in the tank which can hurt your livestock.

yes, its just the UV protection, and it basically broke in half, one half is still on the bulb while the other is now on the table next to me. its in one piece. i dont know what i should do...
and sorry about the language.

The bulb has to have the UV protection on it or you can destroy your stock because of it.
If its a fairly new bulb contact who you got the bulb from and they might be able to replace it under warranty.

i would, but i bought it off ----. i guess you get what you pay for. i did notice that some of my corals were closed up, but only the ones directly under the light. thank god i still have my reeflux bulb, which is over a year old and havent had any problems. i guess its time to go and break the bank. this sucks, when i finally said i wouldnt spend anymore money on this fish tank.
im having some second thoughts about this hobby....

I personally would never buy bulbs on that site or any other used site unless I knew for a fact that it was what it was supposed to be. You can get a used bulb for 8-9 months and you only have about 4 months before it has to be replaced befor the spectrum changes. I would always go through a store on bulbs that way YOU KNOW what you are getting.
If you know the seller its different but in most cases if I buy a used lighting setup I expect to have to replace the bulbs so that I know how old they are.

well, the light was brand new. i have a retrofit kit that i bought from a store, so i dont know how the bulb broke, but most likely im just going to go a buy another reeflux since i've had some luck with them. i only wish i bought another one so i could've saved my 20 bucks...
