metal halide bulb question

is it possible for a double ended metal halide bulb to go in one of those 250/500/750/1000 Watt Halogen Portable Light like one of those garage work lights...if the wattage matches the fixture and will this work long term? or does the bulb even fit?

No to both questions, you need a ballast that is HQI.
I would not mess with anything not compatible with the bulbs.

thanks i figured it would take a little something extra. ill just go w/ a retro kit when i go to halides.
