I have two 250watt 20k bulbs on me 55g aquarium. They light up the whole room, I was wondering if the light could be used to grow plants in the room.

Surely you aren't refering to THE plant are you?

i doubt it. most plant bulb are 4000k to 6000k more of a warm light orangy yellowish.

you certainly could grow plants with them but the spectrum might be to blue, i once read an article stating that the more blue the spectrum the fuller or bushier the plant grew and the more yellow the taller the plant grew. dont know if it was true or not though.
