Hello, I have a 400W metal halide light that i want to use on my 29 gallon reef tank. Is this too much light for this size tank? Also, How high would i have to hang the light above my tank?

imo, its too much. youll bake most anything you put in there, and you will without a doubt need a chiller. you will melt pretty much any soties or lps you put in the tank.
