sunpod makes a great model for nanos, lookup sunpod and check out the different ones. or do a search on here and see what others have and have to say about them.

the viper are only 70 watts and they're pretty nice, much cheaper than the sunpods but they dont have moonlights.

My tank already has a built in top and 5 moonlights and 26 watts of pc light which is why I wanted to upgrade so it has to fit under the hood.

Don't go with the viper. They are really shanky... they also burn out because they have no fans to cool the fixture off. I use the 70 watt sunpod and I love it! it's worth the $220 I payed for it.

is that $220 for the bulb or the whole setup? will if work for an 12 gallon aquapod? i really want corals :cheer:

Is the fan on the sunpod noisy and is there a switch that you can turn on and off with to stop it because it might be in my bedroom and I don't want something noisy in there ?

No, theres no switch to turn the fan on and off, it just goes off when the lights are off. It's no louder than a computer fan. I can only notice it if my room is completely dead silent. If your watching t.v. or have any other noise in your room, you won't notice it.

Another question if you were to do a retrofit (I think thats what it called) do you need a ballast or a fan to go with it and if so what brand or type. Thanks

What retro kit are you talking about? To add another pc or a halide? Most kits should come with the ballast.

retrofits come with ballast and some of them with fans.they usually come ready to plug and play .the only thing you have to do is put the included bulb in the fixture.

Just make sure the kit comes with a ballast. If you want to mod it into your hood, I would look into adding more fans to increase air flow.

defenitly true
most likely you will need fans if you have a hood, you could get away without fans if example:you get a fixture to hang from the ceiling and you have no glass top on tank..
