Metal Halide question

Okay I'm in the process of seeing up a 56 gallon AGA "tall" reef. The tank is 30x18x24. I have access to 2 x 175W mh ballasts. I was thinking about putting both of them in, mounting them with the bulbs going from to back to front (base of the bulb to the rear) putting the bulbs about 10 inches from the sides so they'd be 10 inches apart and 10 inches from the sides. Is this "too much" light ? I know there may be heat issues, but im going to be employing some water cooling techniques and if I need a chiller I think I can DIY one of those from the dehumidifier i never threw out :) (best start buying stock in the power company eh?).
Before I go about that, does anyone think 1 175 in a 24 inch deep tank would be enough? Or maybe there is a better way to mount the lights?
Thanks guys :)

I have 2 X 175w over my 90g reef and I think that is 27" so you should be fine. Mine are about 11 inches above the water. Fans should keep things in the low to mid 80s which isn't bad. 87 and up is bad.
My electric bill isn't bad either. LOL...I was worried about that too.
