Metal Halide?

Ok today i recieved my metal hadlide. (175 elctronic ballest) and of course i have a question From the ballest 3 wires white black and green the socket has white black and purple so black and black white to white does purple and green go toghter.any help thank you

Your Green wire is an Earth ground, I don't know about the Purple.

Where on the socket is the purple wire located?

the purple is prob gonna end up being your ground wire but it would be helpful to post a pic, that way we can see what it looks like.
