ok guys, its been awhile but i got my metal halides up and running today its lights the entire room

i go for looks. The better the setup looks the more soothing the appearance. Try to hide the Metal halides if you can. The whole setup needs to look appealing.

I am not an expert by any means. But I thought MH's should be a little lower han that. Like a few inches from the top of the tank. And maybe a fan blowing across the water to keep it from heating the water to quickly.
The light looks very bright. I just figured you would want to focus as much of the light in the tank.
If I am wrong it will be a learning experiance for me. I need to get a MH myself. I know nothing about them, but what I see and read on this board.

I agree. Lower that thing down and hide is by building a hood or something!

but dont lower it a few inches from the tank, or your gonna have probs, try about 8 inches to start and watch your water temp and fine tune it from there

allright, as soon as i can ill lower it
