Metal halids

Alright so with the last two months my electric bill has jumped up about 150 more a month since I got this new light. It's a oddessy 4', it has two 175 watt metal halide on it with blues. Would/should it make my electric bill jump this damn high

Are the blues LED or T5?

You are probably pushing close to 400 watts with the new fixture. This will make your power bill go up... IDK if an extra $150.00 is only because of the lights, but it is the major contributor.

I switched from MH to LED's to help lower my power bill and to save on bulb replacement every year.

Did you add anything else to the system in the last two months (or anywhere else in the home, i.e extra TV, Fridge) like a heater, pump, or power head? This will also cause the power usage to increase.

I guess you can call it the price of doing business in the saltwater world. LOL. HTH's

MH ADV 48" Metal Halide T5 Aquarium Light 716W Coral Reef Marine LED 2x 250W
Hats what she is. But no nothing else in the house is new or tank lol. It's really kinda frustrating cuz my roommates look at me like I should be paying more if the bill but I pretty sure the light wouldn't make the bill jump that high

It's a 75g. And honestly do not have anything but a mushroom right now but that's why I bought the light so I could get some corals. How do u figure the wattage??

I just took the 716w and 2 times 250w to get the 1216 watts.

I am not familiar with the fixture. It may just be the 716w which is still a lot of power for mushrooms. You could just use the T5's and LED's until you get more light hungry corals. Then add one of the MH's as you get more corals. This should save some loot.
