Who here can tolerate the hard stuff? Now who here likes it? Well I love it! Goin' to Slipknot on Saterday night. We have media passes for the show, which means it's gonna be a longgg night for all of us. I'll tell you all about it and try to put up some pics. Metal-heads, SIGN  here!!

Don't care much for the new stuff but I'm a metal head from way back. Sabbath, Motorhead, Maiden, Priest, Dio, Venom, Slayer, Saxon, Trouble etc. was the bible to me when I was a kid. They don't make em like they used to.

I mean DRI, slayer, sepultura, Suicidal Tendencies, SOD, bloodfeast, etc......thrash from the 80s. Not glam rock hair bands......although they make me smile when I remember growing up. I have always been into punk as well.
And oh yeah, I had a poison tape in middle school, so you are banned.

metalhead
they may not make metal like they used to but when has music EVER been like it used to??
i like the new stuff just as much as the old (exception to metallica of course). nu metal bands like slipknot, korn, mushroomhead, rammstein, revielle, and 40 below summer can still pack a good punch.
and for the people who miss the iron maiden & old metallica then there's been a lot of good dark metal comming out of europe. bands like opeth, in flames, dimmu borgia, and green carnation are giving out a hard, yet more mellodic approach.
then you get the more kick-back, contemporary guys like linkin park and lacuna coil. a lot of these bands also incorporate the rap/metal edge, which people seem to hate nowadays. i personnally love it. growing up to both backrounds and seeing em come together is all good in my book.
and you GOTTA GIVE IT up for the bands that have been down since day one. slayer, suicidals, bad religion, glen danzig, and phil anselmo to name a few (for those who miss pantera then check out phil's side bands: superjoint ritual & down)

Sammy- DRI!!! YES!!! More punk than metal though, but that's the only punk I'll listen to... BITCHEN CAMARO!!!! Never knew you were a metalhead. If you like Sepultura's old stuff, try Soulfly's stuff. Same dude, different band. Don't let the metal in you die, replenish your thirst with some new machinehead or pantera or stone sour (Corry from slipknot)... You need to check some of this stuff out. Purity- Superjoint is coming in a few weeks. Got tickets already, but they are normal tickets. Last time I was at a Pantera show, it was on their last tour, in Atlanta, at the Tabernacle. We were UP FRONT against the gates. Some dude kept elbowing me in the ribs trying to get in front of me, so I whooped his ass so bad, in the middle of "This Love" Phil goes "OH SH%&! I love it!" and chuckled slightly. Then Dimebag tossed a bunch of water, then the water bottle at us and laughed... That was pretty darn neat if you ask me. Been to 5 Pantera shows (including 2 Ozfests)... I will miss Pantera.

Poison -> NOT METAL AT ALL!!!!!
OLD Ozzy, Sabbath, Pantera, Alice Cooper(old stuff), Megadeth, Dio, Accept, Kix, Priest and AC/DC....
I could go on for a while, but will stop there Metal Rules and this new stuff aint exactly metal(for the most part, there are a few that could be considered metal but not many). But I will always stopto listen to Godsmack and Rammstein
Glamour Rock is for punks, i remember those bands too. But there is nothing like Thrash metal and the old headbangers ball.:nope:

I used to be a DIE HARD korn fan back in the day.. like around 94-96 when they were putting out original stuff..
back when they were tight with limp bizkit and fred durst wasn't a sell out piece of crap... 3 dollar bill yall was a good cd.
now jon davis just sounds whiney and old. boring boring boring.
and linkin park kills me. that guys voice is the most gut-wrenching thing I have ever heard. talk about WHINEY. :nope:
I used to love metallica too.. just seems everyone that ever had any talent back in the day has just run out of ideas.
except for Trent Reznor. I have to say he is the only guy that hasn't sold out or ceased being a creative and unique musical artist. He is AWESOME. He should write a book.

WOW I havn't heard some of those names in a long time. Didn't think anyone outside of cali ever even heard of DRI. Of course I'd have to disagree with innsmouth about Preist being heavy metal.

Rammstein was the best concert that I have ever been to. Like.. right after I walk in the door, this huge creepy german guy comes up to me like "you want to go backstage after the show? there's a party!" (in a creepy huge german guy voice) so I got a backstage pass. it was awesome.
the concert was so cool... lots of fire. and lasers.

oh DAMN! how could i forget about soulfly?!?! one of the BEST metal bands out there with the same spiritual edge that max had from the start. the new sepultura kicks just as much ass too!
another band i forgot to mention: FEAR FACTORY!
i got their new album a month ago (not even sure if it's out yet) and they're still hard as ever. everyone thought that with dino leaving the band that they would suck. NOPE! just as killer!

dO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT METAL IS?
Priest was one of the innovators. Before Turbo, they rocked!!! Most bands have changed, but after seeing alice do Poison, I have to wonder if they did not just get worn out. Alice is great and i will always have my collection of vinyl and CDs but his voice is shot and he just cant sing like he used to, after 30 yrs+ of carrying on like that though I have to give him credit for making it that long. I never could have done it and will alwyas have a special place in for my collection of Alice Cooper records and memorabilia.
In my heart metal will never die, because it is constantly getting re-born, EVERY TIME I WALK IN and turn on my stereo!!!

kitty if you liked that concert then go pick up their Live in Berlin dvd. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! they did that show with more effects and pyrotechnics than Kiss could ever DREAM of doing.
i saw em live with slipknot & system of a down (another awesome band i forgot to mention) and they were pretty damn good....but the shows they do in the States are NOTHING compared to what they gave their own country!!

Purity- Fear Factory is opening for slipknot at this show this satrday. I didn't know their new one was out yet. Where did you get your's? Dino rocked, but dude, you can only play that fast for so long w/ hands and arms that fat.... I can play all that stuff w/ the speed and precision that Dino could, even faster. But man, my forearms get HUGE!!!

yeah it's not out yet. my buddy, dave, knows em and is always hanging out at in the scenes so he got me a copy. he also said that dino's always been one pompus, cocky s.o.b. so everyone's glad that he's gone. their bass player (can't remember his name) took over dino's role and he's doing a damn good job!
and lemme tell you....the new album is AWESOME. starting from the very first track when you're hearing burton screaming from the bottom of his throat:
"GODDDDDDD, HELP ME POUR THIS GAS-O'-LEEEEEEEENNNNN!!!!!!!!!"

fshhub,
Growing up around here we used to love to give the Preist fans S***. We always said they were not really Heavy Metal. Most of the people that liked Preist around here where also big Poison, and Bon Jovi fans. So we lumped them all into the posers group.

So please enlighten me asto the shortcomings of the priest and the scorps? Too melodic? Too much high range in the vocals? Lacking a hercky jerky no melody rock and boulder avalanche of junk your used too? Power and melody can be combined to create a true metal experience. Bad raping the past is like denying your present.. Love it acknowledge it and build upon it
