With my green star polyps should i simply lay them on a rock or glue them to one? And how can i get them to grow the fastest. I wanted to get it to spread on the back wall of the aquarium giving it a really cool look.

GSP will spread like crazy if they are placed on your live rock. From what I have read it is suggested to place the rock with the GSP on it on the sand bed so that it is not touching any other LR. You can also glue it to the back glass on your tank and it will spread. I just bought a small 4" rock covered with GSP about a week ago. I placed iton top of my LR and it has already begun to spread onto my LR. I am going to move it to the sand bed when I do my tank maintenance in a couple of days. Yellow polyps will also spread quickly and choke out your other corals if you are not careful. Good luck with your GSP.

I have a question...I placed my green star polyp (4 inches) on a rock in my tank and it is doing really well and I love the look...are you saying they choke out other coral? Are you saying they won't grow on the sand bed, that it can be controlled that way?

I love GSP probably my second favorite to my Rics, some folks just hate them though. They give such nice contrast and movement to the tank.
With that, I had some on a flat piece of rock and wanted to know what they would do if I did not cut them back. Yes they will keep growing out onto the sand how far off that rock I really don't know for sure. But if they touch any other corals or rock look out they will go there too.
Just make sure you give them room to grow if this is what you want to do and they do grow fast.

Eventually you will remember not wanting them to grow faster.
Sometimes like others I love them sometimes I hate the little "Coral Weeds" .
I have far too many patches of them. If seems like I am tearing them
out all the time. Eventually they just seem to pop up everywhere............
Here is the mid part of my back glass. I glued a couple of little bits on there about a year
ago.........
