the best way to avoid ich in your dt is to put all your new fish in a qt

Marine ich is a parasite with a known life cycle. QT ALL verts for 4 weeks before introducing them into your tank and you'll never have an issue.

Just put everything into the QT be4 putting it into my DT?
But how will having it in the QT let me know if it has it or not?
and if it is in my QT then if i later put it into the DT wont it infect the fish in the DT

IMHO....I would not only QT, but Hypo all new fish just to make sure you do not introduce ICH into a display tank. Why take the chance when hypo seems so safe. Put them in regular SG QT for 7 days to make sure they are happy/eating, then hypo for 3 weeks.......It is a pain, but it is a lot less of one then introducing ICH into a DT, losing fish and/or QT/Hypoing everyone once you have it........

Hypo can be stressful. Especially for new arrivals. I don't treat or medicate unless I see symptoms.

I think he's confusing everyone with the term "verts" which would be fish, people anything with a spine. we are so used to hearing "inverts" but nobody really refers to fish as "verts" lol. You can leave the corals and inverts. you have to remove the fish for 4-6wks.

They are wrong. ALL fish must be removed. Some fish show some resistance to ich, but you can't count on it.

To be 100% safe? yup.
Mandarins may be the exception as they are supposed to have some sort of slime that protects them.
To be safe, however, fallow=No fish.
