MH Color burn in period?

Ok so I bought a 14k bulb and it currently looks like a 10k bulb in the visual of the bulb. Will this change after the 100 hours? Does it make that much of a change?

some change significantly and some dont change much at all. Not very conclusive I know but if they look like 10k bulbs to you now I wouldn't generally expect them to look like 14k after burn in. What brand by chance? perhaps we can tell if they run whiter or bluer than others. Ushio 14ks for example aren't bluish at all.

I thought it was the other way around. The bulb looks bluer at first and then in 2 weeks or so the color whitens up.

Just so ya know I bought a 20k Radium 150 watt HQI and took a picture of it when in. Now after the first 100 hours or so I will take another pic to see if there is a different to the n.a.ked eye. I know not very scientific but what the heck.
If you want to see the difference between a "burned in" 14k phoenix and a new 20k Radium here ya go!

ballast makes a difference. most de look more blue with electronic and more white with m80 magnetic ballasts.

I have the Aqua Medic MH pendant and I think it runs the Mag ballast. Would I be able to simple switch over to another ballast if need be?

Theres nothing wrong with a magnetic ballast. Look at sanjays reef lighting page. You can find the data you need to determine the "look" of your bulb/ballast combination. You just need to have a phd to decifer it all.
