I've been looking for MH balasts and sockets. They've recently installed MH lighting in our shop (what a diffrience :joy: ) They have a few leftover. I was wandering if 400w would be to much for my 20 H.

ever seen food at a resturaunt that has been left under the heat lamps for too long?
thats what your fish will look like, lol... if you could get your hands on a 250 and hang it about 9 inches above your tank, i would say your in good shape... imo

I'd say that's too much light. Your definately going to run into some heat issues.

thanks, I'll have to ask if they have a lower wattage ballast from our other dealership.

400W has been done over a 20g tank. With that much light, you would be limited to the highest light needing corals and would probably have to do a few things to keep the temperature in check.
