MH Lighting Question on Small Tanks?

I have a 29g that is 12" wide. I would like to get metal halides but the unit is 15" wide. Haven't found any narrower ones. It would hang over a inch and a half on each side.
So is that alright? Wouldn't it be hard to access the tank having to move it all the time?

u can get some with lil wires that hang over your tank but u have to attach them to your ceiling thats what my buddy has all he does is swing them and clips them to one of his walls when hes working on his tank

dont do it. hard to access and looks tacky (one of the main reasons I have a sunpod instead of an orbit fixture with supplemental flourescents). use an appropriate size pendant and hanging rods if you dont want to hang it from the ceiling. several off the shelf hanging rods are available and I'm sure you could find something at home depot or lowes

the current sundial with 150w halide 32x2pc and hanging rods is only $230

Don't do what? Get the metal halide or hang it from the ceiling?
I found a 130w pc that is only 7" wide. It is about $90 with shipping. I may just go that route untill I have a permanent residence and can get a bigger tank.

Ok, I'm not planning on going too crazy with everything untill I can get a bigger aquarium. Might as well save my money for that day.

Nothing right now. I'm moving in a couple months to go to college and took my tank down. I had a fowlr and loved it, so I am planning on venturing into the reef world. I am doing all the research I can now so I am as ready as possible. Lol. I kind of feel dumb being on here now that I don't even have a tank.
