MH Lighting question - Too close to middle glass insert?

All,
We've got our MH lights installed and am wondering if the lights are too close to the middle glass inserts on top of the tank.. We've got plenty of ventillation setup (two bathroom vent fans converted into hood fans) so it's pushing the air from both lights.
The glass gets very warm, though, underneath the lights. The tank temperature doesn't move up, which is nice, but I'm concerned about that middle glass piece.
When I say warm, it doesn't hurt to touch the glass because it's too hot, but it is warm.
Here are some pix of the setup.

from what i was trold by many here ,get rid of thje glass.
poor oxygen gas exchange bad for fish .ph will become
unstable also . good idea with the fans though .is it noisy?
i did same thing with glass pain in the but cleaning salt off to
for clarity

i would worry about the glass getting hot and then breaking when some water spashes on it. search for some metal halide posts i know ive recently read about that on here somewhere.
but i agree with bracebldrs remove the glass anyway it restricts gass exchange
