MH problem

I have a single 250w pfo magnetic MH ballast running a hamilton 12k 250w bulb. Yesterday I turned the light on and it fired up like normal after a while the bulb started to flicker and then went out. After a few min it came back on. This happened a few more times throughout the day. Today its doing the same thing. Any ideas?

How old is the bulb?? The hamilton 12k 250w bulb is for probe start ballasts. Make sure your ballast is a probe start.

Hmm... this set up has run fine for the last few mts

is it possibly overheating? i know that when my bulbs get too hot, they cut off. the bulbs dont come back on till they cooled down

I've run the 12k Hamiltons for quite a while and IMHO they are junk!!!!! They have major color shifts. I purchased 4 from Hamilton back in January and had the same problems and eventually the bulb didn't light.... I called them and it took them 3 weeks to get me a replacement and the one the sent me wouldn't light and they told me to swap the bulbs between ballast to make sure it wasn't just that socket... Needless to say it wasn't a ballast or wiring just faulty bulbs. I can honestly see the difference in the coloration of the bulbs and the bulbs only have a weeks difference in burn time on them...
