MH socket types

Can anyone explain the differences between the various MH socket types and the pros and cons. I'm real close to making a purchase and want to make sure I dont make a mistake.
Here's what I think I'm gonna buy:
Dual 250 PFO Ballast with mogul socket. I'm looking at 2 6500K Iwasaki lamps and will augent with 2 VHO 110 True actinics
I see three types of ballast models/sockets mentioned: mogul, HQI, EYE and I'm not sure what the difference is. I am also curious about the pulse start option.
I know there are also double ended, europian and german type lamps. All this is kind of comnusing.
Are some of these lamps cheaper than others or last longer than others? Is the lighting quality different bewteen them?

Mogul sockets are the most common look like large common lamp sockets, HQI and Double end are usally the same thing although I have seen them single ended, think of HQIs as looking similar to Halogen. The choice you made sounds like a good one that will work well for you.
