MH / T5 Heat

I'm looking to retrofit my corner tank with a 250W MH and a couple t5's. The canopy of my tank is made of black plastic. My question is this:
Can I attach a 250W metal halide reflector to plastic without it melting? I have no idea how hot these guys get after 10 hours of run time. Obviously I'd use a cooling fan or two to get some airflow across the reflector.
Thanks!

yeah, the reflectors are going to get very hot. don't know if hot enough to melt the plastic or not tho. my mh reflector runs on top of a wire that is running to my night lights and it hasn't melted yet. I do know that one member her built a wooden liner for the inside of his
