i was thinking of getting eggcrate as my hood for my 44 gal pendagon. is it easy to cut pieces out for my skimmer filter etc?? and how much wheit can it hold al of my lights equal about 10 pounds. and how shud i cut it?

I wouldn't try to rest your lights on it. Water will splash through the eggcrate and make a mess in salt creep, and potentially ruin your light, depending on how the fixture is set up. There is also heat concerns if you are using a high-wattage light system. With no room for air-movement, even lower wattage lights will heat up the tank. It is safest to mount or hang them.

see i am getting a 24 inch light fixture and i already have a 20 in all together they equaL 80 WATTS OF PC LIGHT IN MY 44 GAL WHICH IS NO PROBLEM FOR OVERHEATING. the problem is i can never find a hood thet fits a 24 inch light fixture and all the 20 in are too low of a wattage so thats why im gonna rest it on the egcrate
