might get mantis

someone in my reef club is selling a mantis, trying to figure out how to grab it from him, but looks like my 20 gallon is going to become a mantis tank

any idea what type it is?

to me that looks like a peacock. i cant wait to see this guys tank all setup and running.

That would be a peacock . Welcome to the family or should I say THE DARK SIDE .

im pretty sure that its a peacock mantis...
if it is a peacock mantis then the 20g tank will not be big enough to house it for very long...they get BIG...i saw one at my LFS that was 10-12 inches long...they said that the one they had would get bigger too...they also said that it was a very calm mantis and i watched the manager "pet" the mantis...i would never stick my hands in a tank with a mantis that was 10-12 inches...

im not trying to spoil anything that you were excited about...im just trying to give you a heads up...the LFS had this mantis in a 70g acrylic tank and it looked "happy"...but i just dont think that a mantis that size would be good in a 20g tank...somthing that size is sure to be a sloppy eater also...nitrates would be through the roof...
