I have a 30 Freshwater tank, I can easily convert it to saltwater. But I don't know if I can use the filter. It is a Millennium 2000. I've been looking all through the manual and box, I've even checked thier website. But I cannot find out if it is safe for a Saltwater Aquarium...Does anyone know If I could use it?

3- 3000's on one tank?
They don't release air like a skilter does, what do you do for air? Air stone and pump?

You mean the little Blue air vavle thingy? I believe the 3000's come with 2 of them. Mine has 1, but I haven't noticed air bubbles like my slikter puts out. I didn't see thousands of little bubbles in the water. I've already taken down the FW tank.

Oh well, I took down my FW tank. Instead of making it salt im going to hold off until i get about 100 or so more dollars. Just have a few things to get, Lighting(stronger) and glass cover. Then I'm just gonan buy a nother Skilter 250. I'm happy with the Skilter 250, and my collection tray is getting filled already....cool
Thanks for the help sammy. Oh I just made the tank for my Horned frog, until I get the money.

Hey FubR,
I use a Millenium 2000 with a whisper 3 with retro pads and a skimmer in a 30 gal. One powerhead for circulation and 15lbs. of LR. I push the blue valve up and the venturi creates a zillion bubbles. Maybe you didn't have the mechanism all the way seated. The tanks been running for about a year now and it has been fine. I did this tank very cheap and didn't want to buy new equipment. I only have 3 fish in this one.

if you plan on using this tank be sure to wash it very good..... and let it set in the sun a few days so the UV light will kill any bacteria from the frog!!!!!!!!!!!!

Millennium 2000's and 3000's are okay for saltwater set-ups. As mentioned above, the bio surface area is not super, but I do like the fact that you can change the carbon/filter media individually, and not have to lose what bacteria you have growing on the bio-plate(s).
They work fine for filtering out particals and crap as Sammy said, and if used on a small tank, they do work. I have a 3000 throttled back some on a 15 gallon high ... talk about over kill, but it keeps the water clear, no ammonia~nitrites, and the 2 percs are happy.
