min. tank size for panther grouper?

Hi. I have a 125 gallon tank. Presently, all I have had in there for the past six months is a 16 inch moray eel that the LFS advertised as "assorted moray." I couldn't find it in the Burgess Atlas or any other books.
In any case, I was thinking about adding a panther grouper and a porcupine puffer. Also, maybe perhaps a snowflake eel. I was wondering if 125 gallons is big enough for these fish. I'm most concerned about the panther grouper outgrowing the tank.
Thanks.

First welcome to the bb, and yes, a panther grouper will out grow a 125 gallon tank. But a 125 gallon tank is a great size for most aggressive fish. So over the past 6 months, all you've had in that tank is a moray eel? I'm on the edge of my sit for my cycle to finish. But any way, heres a list of fish that you could have- most triggers (niger, picasso, pinktail), small eels, lionfish, puffers (dont mix with triggers), wrasses, small groupers, hogfish, and hamlets. Of course, all those wont fit, but you can choice 2 or 3 of those fish listed. If you have anymore questions about feel free to ask. And describe the way your eel looks, maybe we can be able to identify it for you.

if the eel you got was in the $15-$30 range it is most likely a snowflake eel (which is very common at lfs)...
now if i were you i would add a black volitan lion next and then a trigger...
that would be a cool tank...

The eel is definitely not a snowflake. It's dark brown and most of the tip of the tail is white. It was about 12 inches or so maybe when I bought him and it cost me $40. None of the employees at the LFS or the woner could tell me what kind of eel it was but I bought it because it looked cool and was extremely active. I thought I could look in my Burgess Atlas and figure out what it was or find it on the net, but I haven't seen one that I think is a good match.
I've waited six months to buy fish partly because I've been so busy with graudate school but mostly because I want to buy the right fish. This is my first saltwater tank so wanted to make sure I do it right. I've looked at a plethora of eels (snowflakes, green wolfs, blue and black ribbons, chainlinks, zebras, tessalatas, garden)and am thinking about adding a snowflake or green wolf.
I'm going to add a porcupine puffer and was hoping to add a panther grouper. Aquariacentral said the minimum tank size for a panther is 100 gallon but I was skeptical so I wanted to get other opinions.
Any other suggestions for cool fish that would go with eels and the porcupine puffer would be appreciated. I like triggers but if they aren't compatible with the porc I'll have to get something else. Some of the LFS's here in Seattle said I could add a trigger but I wasn't sure if I could believe them.

Well, if you already have an eel that you like why would you want to add another one or trade it in for. Also stay away from ribbons, they die 99.9% of the time. And also green wolf eels arent true morays are a member of the gobie family.
I have a 135 gallon tank and am planning on an anttenatta lionfish, snowflake eel, picasso trigger, harlequin tusk, and a foxface lo, and that is a little crowded. But you could have a 125 with a porc puffer, the eel, a smaller lionfish, and possible a large wrasse (lunare, harlequin tusk). You also need some more specs on your tank, do you have live rock? What type of substrate do you have? What type of filter system?
