mini cycles??????????

ive heared about mini cycles but when do they happen like every time you get a new fish or something like that???

In a properly maintained tank, with good filtration, there should be nothing detectable through test kits if the tank is healthy, ie. no die-back.

At any given time your tank will have only the amount of bacteria needed to process the waste created by the number of fish you have...If you add another fish the tank will go through a short mini/recycle to build the bacteria needed to handle this addition to the bioload...Once a tank is a bit older,or mature,this recycle will become undetectable..This is refered to as a stable,or balanced system...
