mini starfish hitchhiker? what?

cycling my tank, its just getting set up, looks like i have a hitchhiker in my live rock... ive never seen it before tonight, i had the tank light turned off, and when i went and turned it on, look what i found on the glass! then, a few minutes later, i went and looked back, and it was gone!

Asterina. You'll see more of him and then you'll see some friends as well. Some report they eat corals, I've never seen it. I have them in all my tanks and they are a part of my CUC.

i personally belive that they do not eat corals unless they are diseased and decaying.They are like any other part of your cleanup crew.They dont go after live coral unless it is dying anyways

may b e your personal belief, but there are many different species of asterinas. I've caught them eating my zoos, and eating my coralline. i've seen pictures of asterinas sucking the color out of sps and turning that sps's color due to the eating of the coral.

i was talking about the asterina he captured in the picture lol
and the chance of finding an asterina that consumes coral is fairly rare.It is like finding a bristle worm that is a coral eater aka fireworm.
