Miniatus Grouper Attitude?

Ok folks, got a question or two. I just moved my grouper, lion, and eel into my 240 and my grouper went right after the established Niger Trigger.
He tortured him and would chase him like a bullet anytime he caught sight of him. I had to pull the trigger out and move him back to my 75g for now.
Are these grouper holy terrors all the time or did I just get lucky
.
I may have to use a fishing hook and shrimp to catch him out as he is about 7" in a 8' tank with well over 300lbs of LR and various caves...there will be no way of netting him.
Strange thing is he has never bother my Lion at all. Gourgous fish, ashame he may have to go by by. I'm going to try a Yellow Tang and see if I get the same response. If so he will have to be pulled before I add any high dollar fish.

That sounds like typical behavior for a miniatus grouper. Once they get larger, they definitely get extremely territorial and pretty nasty.

this is true of them he will find a new rock and go after any fish that comes by it. the trigger should be fine the grouper will just show off his teats and chase him a bit.
