minium lighting for clams.

what is the min or max you need for like a maxima , i have 1 in my 75 but wasen't sure about a nano.

metal halide. watts are not really the determination. Kelvins and watts together are the true determination. at least 10000k kelvin lights. Read the Conscientious Marine Aquarist or a similar well respected book. The size of your tank matters not, just the lighting, placement, and flow. And obviously water params.

so if i found a way to add a actinic retro style, i was thinking the 12w actinic the old canopy came with..duno just thinking. :thinking:

my only concern is the heat factor, it's sitting at 82* at night. ??

82* is ok.. no higher then 84*...

ok kool, i'm getting more evaporation with tops off , lowered the temp to 78* hoping not to flucturate too much.
everything looking good so far.
any clues on break in time for lights ? :thinking:
right now i'm doing 2-3 hours for the 1st couple days till i reach 8 hours.
any other opinions ??

my lfs store is great never had a problem with what they have told me they say clams are able to live under pcs and they will die from poor water
