****************************** Sorry. Link deleted. We've had an influx of Youtube links so we're having to go back to cracking down on links. We just don't haqve enough time to view them to make sure they are appropriate. 1Journeyman

Dude, If you pay attention to the words you quoted he said they dont have the time to VIEW ALL THE LINKS AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE APPROPRIATE...
On the other hand, YouTube censors their own content and has things that they deem inappropriate age restricted... So why even worry about their links???

ruaround - this must fall under rule 4, the first sentence. I numbered them so it's easy to tell. The first section are the forum rules we agreed to on sign up. The only rule specific about links is in the "Live Selling & Trading " forum. - Then a link - Dear member message from admin - which applies to just about every political and religious thread open now.

ive known that for a long time there zman... im not complaining that they deleted the link... it is up to the mods... i am just saying that there are some members that have been here a long time and have pretty good judgement on what is appropriate...

Zman, it says they can reserve the right to remove any post they want. Says nothing about links at all except that part about not allowing them period in the selling/trading forums. (I do realize they will delete links anyway)
I was posing the question since You Tube has moderators that censor their videos, hence rendering links from them harmless right? Everything that is controversial requires age verification so instead of deleting the links everytime you see them maybe you could save even more time by ignoring them. Personally I dont care but you guys should get together and make these rules official so you dont have to waste time with it...
In anycase and whatever is decided about YouTube videos at least give us a heads up so we can google the funny ones.... I checked that one out and it had me rolling! My wife got pissed that I was making fun of a 16 year old girl but come on, she put herself in the spotlight.... Reap what you sew right?

Ruround, I agree with you that you wouldn't post a link that was -"obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws."
I was just indicating there really isn't a specific ADMIN posted rule on links other than the selling forum. So it must just be the open ended rule 4 option that was used.

I generally agree with the mods here most of the time but sometimes I dont always agree with "judgement calls" I mean allowing Inochuous YOUTUBE links which in the same a edited and checked for hillacious content are not being allowed here, but then allowing more than one thread and being openly candid on controversial subjects like HAND GUNS, PISTOL, RIFLES, ALCOHOL, I would say could be misconstrued as ironic or hypocritical. Just my 2 cents. WILL ALL DUE RESECT REMEMBERING that this is a PRIVATELY OWNED FORUM!

I saw a post by one of the moderaters ( in the aquarium ) explain/ask/tell to a member that youtube/video links were not allowed. Suprised me too. Said something about they dont have time to watch them to make sure there sterile, clean and not obscene.

Hey, like everyone keeps saying this is a forum that has the right to manage the content as they see fit. If they dont want links from YouTube thats fine... But make sure everyone is clear on it is I guess what I'm trying to say. That would make it easier on them I would imagine so they dont have to go around removing the links.
That rules list is very broad and could possibly benefit from an area that includes specific items such as YouTube links.

This decision was recently made within the last few days based on an increase in the number of posts to video sites.
I'm sorry if you don't like it, but that is a decision that was made. There are questionable posts on youtube and other video sites, moderated or not, that are not appropriate. The mods here are volunteers, and we do not have time to moderate - just to be sure they are OK - posts on other sites. Please understand that.
We have the opportunity, again, to point out that this site is quite open, in fact, when it comes to posts on religion, politics, etc. I am always surprised to hear that complaint.
We are also far from "perfect" but understand that we have A LOT of posts to go through and make quick decisions. We err on the side of caution, and can't please everyone all the time. People have different tolerance levels, different perceptions, and we have to consider that while keeping things flowing.
We hear complaints about mods a lot...and I am sure every mod on every site can say the same. Mods are rarely very popular for long :)
You may question the mods on this site, but understand that you don't necessarily appreciate the amount of running around that is done to address problems...or even the scope of the problems. A link to youtube may seem innocuous but in the big picture it can be a concern to us. It is in our best judgment at this time that the links do not contribute more than the possible problems they present.

In regards to Miss SC I felt pretty bad for her. She just froze. She said in an interview she remembers hearing about 2 words from the question and everything else was a blur. It was pretty funny though. She was all over the place rambling and making no sense.... Kinda like some posters I know......
