Missing Fin!!!?@??!?@

So my puffer fish that I think is battling ick for sometime now, has just been discovered with no left front fin. He is swimming fine and is eating, but what could have caused it to fall off. There is no bite marks. He is the biggest one in the tank (one lunar wrasse and one damsel and small crabs). Could this have become the result of ick or what???? And will he grow it back or not??? Is he doomed to die??
Thanks for any imput you have. I really need some help cause he is awesome. He is a dalmation dogface puffer.

um.. i dont think its the cause of ick, my fish have had seriouse ick and thats never happened,just do a lil bit of freshwater dip but run it by ur lfs dealer ok.

well I was just going to forget about it cause I dont want to sound stupid, but I saw an hour ago that he some how has 2 fins again. I know that it was not on his side because I looked and why would he swim with one anyways but he is fine just has ick still and swims fine thanks.
