Ok, I have a bit of a problem here that I am having trouble figuring out. It goes like this. My tank is about 3 weeks old, I have a 55gal with 45lbs of live rock. The rock I purchased was cured premium Figi rock. I did not cure the rock myself because I was putting it in a new tank and figured I would use it to cycle the tank with some fish. After about 2 weeks I had some mollies and a few damsels that were doing great. I also purchased a Bi-Color pseudochromis that was also doing great. I left for work and the chromis was fine, I get home and he is gone, no trace. I checked the filter and the floor and all that stuff. After 2 days I figured I had better find him so I do not spike my nitrites or ammonia. I picked up and inspected as well as moved and relocated all the live rock in hopes of finding him; I didn't. No body no head no nothing. Now I am missing a damsel with all the same issues as the chromis. I have had fish get eaten or killed before, but I was always able to see something left over. The only other things in the tank are small hermit crabs and a few different types of snails. Nothing in there is big enough to eat a 2in pseudochromis or a damsel. I thought it might be a mantis shrimp or something but I figured it would have died when the live rock was shipped. It was shipped fairly dry, and was sent 2nd day air. I am looking for any ideas someone might have.
