Does anyone here recall having this situation? I have had a scooter blenny for about 10-14 days and now he is simply gone! Although he has great blending ability, I really think that he is not hiding THAT well, he's just GONE.
I don't have live sand (CC) and didn't think that they burrow anyhow. I really liked this fish and thought that he was eating the brine shrimp and marine flakes that I was feeding. It is really hard to see whether he's eating or not though. To complicate matters, this is the second fish that I have lost in a week. I feel like a NONresponsible marine aquarist right now.
I have done the following:
1/1/03-Set up 75 gal w/CC, no LR and cycled with mollies
3/1/03-added a pair of clowns, took out mollies 3/6
3/15-added clean-up crew (20 blue + 20 red hermits, 2 emerald crabs, 4 mexican turbo and 20 astrea snails).
4/3-added 20 pds. of cured live rock-Figi
4/16-added yellow tang, scooter blenny and coral beauty angel (they were all already together in the LFS and I think this is a really responsible store-local reef club's opinion)
4/26-went to add new royal gramma (no doubt jumping the gun) and found coral beauty angel very dead [kind of bad since my 4 year old niece is the one who found him!] Took him in to the LFS and it was a concensus that he never acclimated well and never ate.
Water: SG=1.022; pH=8.2; amm 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, phosphate 0 the entire time since 3/15.
Now: Tang fine, clowns fine, gramma fine, clean-up crew happy BUT very absent blennie! Completely covered tank top-he didn't jump out! Could someone have eaten him, or what is anyone's opinion? Thanks in advance!!
