mixed parasites

[i love fish]

I read an article that says that if u mix fish from different oceans (ie- Pacific ocean and Indian ocean etc) that u risk the chance of exposing those fish 2 parasites they don't find in their part of the world.
Does anybody have any experience with this or know as to whether or not it is true?
If it is true, wouldn't quarantine still work?

this is a tough one, i get differnt fish from different areas of the world for the shop that i work at and we only ever come across the basics(ich,worms,black ich) that the fish from other sides of the world both get, so i think all fish get the same parasites, well there are certain fish that have more parasites than others such as leapard wrasses and there intestinal worms, but im pretty sure its all the same, someone may have a different opinion.
