Ok set up my tank and went to get LR, only 3 lb in a 20g long, half is fully cured half is not. LFS said its good- thought I would ask you guys, also rock has only been in an hour and ammonia is about 1.5- normal first day?

Yes you can keep adding liverock it will just take a little longer to cycle most times. 1.5 is normal. Just means youve had alot of die off.HTH

Cycling with LR is a great way to establish a new system....it does take longer in most situations...but the wait is worth the effort....and nothing good happens quick in this hobby anyway.

Why on earth would it take longer?!?! I got the LR to speed things up! Went with half cured and half cruing, only 3 lbs. How could I have done it faster!

Whats the hurry?!!?

Cycling with LR normally takes longer due to the slower process of die-off...which better allows the new system to complete the cycle and establish itself.

Really the only way to have the cycle faster is to use fully cured liverock. Even with fully cured liverock you may not have enough bacteria to sustain fish and thats why its good to put a cocktail shrimp in the tank to help biuld your bacteria population. No need to rush in this hobby because all rushing will do is cost you $$$ and fustration.HTH

the wife is dying to get a clown in there, shes heartless!!! Said its only 15 bucks and you can flush it..... I know- I should call the humane society! But yeah the reason I went with LR is to get it going FASTER, I thought with half LR and half Curing live rock, olus some nitromax marine--I thought it would cycle in record time!

goi with the quickest cycle is never best anywayz..cuz if its not completelty cycled..or not cycled well because of speed ur fish will most likely die anywayz..ima noob too...i tried a sw tank about a year ago..im havin another go as we speak..last time all my stuff died because i had the classic speedy noob syndrome and wanted fish asap....not a good idea..the slower the better..and by doing it rite the first time, you wont blow all your money on hopeless dead fish...good luck to you!
