Modifying Hagen Aqua Clear 50,

So I am curious, I have been thinking about modifying my Aqua clear filter by trying to throw out my sponge and add chaeto and maybe even a small filter bag filled with live rock rubble instead of the biomax.
For the Chaetoa I was going to take a small tough cup with drilled holes, and cliping a LED light to my filter and for the live rock, might this help more?

I was thinking of doing the same thing to my AQ 70, until I bought a CPR HOB fuge. A google of "aquaclear refugium" results in many DIY posts and videos that may answer your questions. Let us know how it works out.
