Can a montipora bleach because their is not enough flow?
because i have several sps and only my monti (which was in the corner with barley any flow) bleached almost completly in a matter of a day after no problems for 4 week. Its about 3 inches from the surface and i have t5's that work for my acro and other montis.

if its barely getting any flow, that could be the cause right there. sps need decent flow to blow away waste.

the part that has algae on it, u need to frag those parts off. the remaining healthy tissue should grow once its comfortable.

if thats the case, just leave it. there is a chance the tissue can overgrow the algae.
I really want to help it grow back, if i get you a picture can you tell me what i can do? Ever since i put it in a higher flow the algea is comming off. Alot of the bleached part is now exposed.

I don't mean to hijack this thread and will start my own if you wish but i just was given a small montipora last night, i was reading that it will grow new flesh over the algae this is what this one is doing but its white in color and you can see the blue polyps with a magnifying glass.
If i may post a pic of mine you will see the area that is white but not the polyps as they are so tiny and the rest of it is a hard algae. It looks to me as the white is growing over the algae area.
This is suppose to be a montipora confusa????
