monti caps

can anyone tell me a bit about monti caps?
are they fast growing??
will they sting other corals??
are they suitable for very small tanks??
I know nothing about them but would like all info that anyone can give me about them.

Some are faster than others... I have an orange/red one that grows very fast (so fast I got it for free because the person had too much). I have an purple cap that grows so slow... I have a candy apple green that grows inbetween...
The only thing about having them in a small tank is that for SPS corals you need to have perfect tank conditions. You would have to stay on top of top of and dosing and the smaller the tank the more drastic the changes are in it.
As far as stinging I would say it depends on what it's going against...

monti caps r fairly easy. what u said small tank? how small? they dont sting much. they will outgrow or grow around its competitors. i hv monti cap that literally grew and wrapped itself around an acro. good luck!

I was given a small monti cap frag to see if it would grow under my T-5's, it has literally doubled in two weeks.

Mine is faster growing than my zoanthids, now that it is settled. That and the birdsnest are really fast growers IME. I have a candy apple green one

Okay thanks for the info, I am going to pass on them as they are just to big for my little pico. Just wanted to know more about them. I have rics, zoas, gsp in my little pico and the gsp I have to keep on top of all the time for growth.
