Moon Lights

Is it just that they look neat or is there an actual good reason to have them? If they are good for the tank what kind of light bulb and how many for a 55gl. Should a blue light bulb be use or just regular.

They do look very cool, but they can also serve a purpose. Basically the only way they can be useful is if they are timed to the moon itself. The idea is that corals reproduce to the moon cycle... so why not try and help them out. But if it is off it is of no use.
I have seen people use a small blue "party bulb" from the grocery store attached to a dimmer or comupter module that runs it either manually or automatically.
