moonlights

Are moonlights normally left on all night or just for a couple of hours or so? I am interested in doing a reef tank and am trying to get all the info I can.

totally up to you, but remember they do absolutely NOTHING but look cool.

Mostly I see where they come on and stay on a few hours later/earlier. My fish didn't like them though, so I never ran them.

I heard that they help promote spawning, but I'm not 100% on that.

doesn't it just help to complete the natural light cycle? They replicate moon light, the atinics are dawn and dusk and the other is sunlight?
