More live sand?

I have had my reef up for about 3.5 months. I have a 2-3 inch base of live sand. I am about to change some equip.(lights, filter, etc.) Should I add more sand? And if so, should I just add sand or buy live sand? The original sand was just sand but was put in with 45lbs of live rock.

that is totally up to you... if you have a good base down then you don't really need it.... but if you added 5 or 10 lbs it should be ok..... ( personal prefrance )
