More live sand??

I have about a 2inch sand bed in my 55 gallon and I would like to increase its volume. Will adding more live sand cause my tank to cycle again?

No. I have a 125 gal tank and I added 3" on top of the 3" I had in the tank. There was no spikes at all. I think as long as you have an established filter, the bacteria in your filter and the existing sand will be sufficient.

Depends, I heard there two kinds of live sand one comes from the ocean like live rock, the other bag sand that has has bacteria added to the bag. I used the bag sand an was told to pick the bags with the oldest date on them. like the sell by dates, which makes cense that will the bacteria time to grow and use up the add amonia. This what I was told. So if you add a little at a time you should not get spikes. Those bags do cloud your water when poured into the tank. I put the hole bag in and open it at the bottom of the tank and tipped slowlly still had cloudness(even turn off all my pumps).
