Please enjoy the photos below of our transition/graduation from a 72-gallon bow front to a 216-gallon tank. We transferred everything this past weekend. It is a culmination of a months work. Next step is to add some more reef safe fish.

We also picked up some cool blue zoos and on one of our new rocks we were pleasantly surprised to have gotten some cool green hitchhiker zoos. Lucky us! :cheer:

Looks Great! Was it a smooth transition?? What did you do with you bow front?

The transition went rather smooth. We purchased about 100 pounds of live rock about 10 days ago and we used that and the live sand to cycle the tank. We purchased another 60 pounds of live rock on Saturday morning. Then we transferred most of the rock from the 72-gallon, about 75 pounds, on Friday night and all of the fish on Saturday morning. We are going to keep the 72-gallon running and use it as a QT tank for some of the new future inhabitants. We will probably add another five fish that will have to be QT'd. All the corals perked up rather quickly. Also, the fish are enjoying all the new space. The aquascaping was the most challenging part.
I got the blue zoos at a local reef store. If you want more info, send me an email sunnyslaw@aol.com .

Nice job in moving. Looks like you are off to a great start. Have you thought about adding a solid color background to your new tank? Blue or black might make the items in your tank stand out a little more and hide your cords Keep us updated with your progress

We are contemplating getting a solid background or a piece of acrylic. First my husband wants to neaten up the wires going to the lights. He is going to put it all in a tube. Our last tank had so much coralline algae on the back glass that we really didn't need a background, even though we had a blue one.
Does anyone have any thoughts on some new fish? We want mild manner/reef safe fish. Maybe a few on the larger side. Right now we have the following:
2 Clown Fish
1 Spotted Puffer
1 Coral Beauty Angle
1 Mimic Tang
1 Blue Hippo Tang
1 Royal Gramma
1 Mandarin
I think I want to add about 5 more fish. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yeah, I didnt paint my back either, the blue just looks bad to me. Let the Algae cover it all up in time............much more natural, or place the rock up where the wires are visible for a time..........

IMO , i would go with a black background. I had blue before and I like the look of black so much better. It makes to colors stand out more and makes the tank looker deeper. Plus if you add powerheads , heaters and such , they seem to almost be invisible against a black back...just my .02

Also...very nice pics btw...

Here is an update. My husband neatly tucked away all the wires. We are still contemplating the backdrop. Also below is a photo of my fish Spot. He is really enjoying his new home. Enjoy.
P.S. We are already starting to grow some coraline algae on the back glass :cheer:
