Normally it is not recommende to run koralias or maxi mods on a wavemaker, although some people have done it. The general consesus is that it shortens the life of the pumps too much. You also run the chance of the pumps starting up backwards or being very noisy.
I have read about a couple of mods to the koralias to make them work on a wavemaker, but I have not heard what the long term results of these projects were.
Hydor does make a wavemaker, but it requires that you use their controlable powerheads not their standard ones. I am using this set up in my 50gal with two #3's. I am happy with the performance that I get out of it although this is my first experience with a wavemaker so I may not be the best judge. It does provide a nice random flow and ramps the two pumps up and down seamlessly. HTH.
