im starting a reef tank and im living in a rental with 2 years left on my lease...my question is how far would you go knowing you will have to move.....could you save all the water in your tank at the time of the move in buckets with coral , livestock,etc..and return it to the tank after you make the move and expect everything to return to normal, or will i have to start over losing my thousands i will eventually accumulate in livestock and corals over the course of a couple years. :notsure: :notsure: :notsure: :notsure: :notsure: :notsure: :notsure: :help:

Plenty of good info on the net regarding moving a tank. It all depends on how far you move. If moving a long distance...you probably can expect some loss. Most if not all the articles I have read state it is better to reduce your stock before a move....especially if it is a long distance. If moving a short distance..like a few miles or within the same town you may not experience any loss.
The key to a move is keeping your biological filter "alive" ...live rock and live sand ., filter media. . You also need a plan and plenty help. Also, you need plenty buckets/tubs, etc, etc, etc.
I moved a 55 gallon tank about 6 years ago...180 miles and I lost nothing...but it was a FOWLR tank...no corals. All the fish are still alive.

Yes, it's called MANY RubberMain Roughneck Totes.
I've moved tons-O-Tanks and it's all possible. So depending on size...like I wouldn't go fully stock above 75G, but anything below is cake to move...
so Reef on!
