Moving Tank, should I buy new sand?

Is it best to use new sand or should use my old sand. I'm a little worried about an ammonia spike, my lfs recommended using half and half? What do you think.

i would use the old sand,, if your only moving it a short distance away it should be fine,,,, personally i stir 1/4 of my sand every time i do a water change so there wouldnt be the possiblility of a ammonia spike....but if you run a deep sand bed and dont wanna mess that up, just be very careful, lol

I still have the sand from my original 20g in my current tank (that is if it hasnt all dissolved over the years)
