Hi Everyone...new to the board. Seems like things get pretty lively at times.
Have to move my 75 gallon reef tank in the next couple of weeks. Am thinking about up grading to a 92 gallon corner tank.
Does anyione have an experience w/ equipment for this type of tank? I am particularly worried about lighting fixtures.
Thanks

About your 92 gallon corner- Most corner tanks are tall and thin, therefore having less surface area than regular tanks, and need stronger airation and movement than other tanks.
Also, I just moved! With 3 extra powerheads and heaters, I prepared the water a week in advance in 3 30 gallon coolers. The LR and LS went into the coolers, and critters went packaged by type in tupperware containers and 1 gallon ziplocks, with water from the tank, not the newly prepared water.
* Save as much of the original tank water as possible, to avoid to much acclimation and shock to inverts due to changes in salinity. * Move as fast as possible, maybe make the tanks the very last thing. Have the area in your new place allready prepared.
* Move as late in the evening or as early in the morning as possible, to avoid stressing the critters with extra daylight or heat. (It was 105 degrees when I moved...)
* Choose carefully what you put back in, are there any damsels or anything youy want out, and dont want to have to tear apart the reef later?
* Youll never get the rockwork looking the same, dont stress your critters by playing with the rockwork for 3 hours...(Like I did...)
Thers also lots of other moving tips, search for them here on the boards.

I think that the advices above are very good and encourage you to follow them. I just moved my tank so I can tell you it is NO FUN. :( We were three guys and believe it or not, it was not enough. I think that the key point is to BE QUICK (once you unplug) and PREPARED (everything already setup in your new location). Unplug the powerheads last and you may want to purchase some small powerheads that work with regular batteries and let them running during the transport. Indeed save as much water from your tank as possible and don't forget to cover your tank during the transport. Otherwise, your will have guaranteed big splashes even when you break very slowly :D
