A few questions.
what size tank??
How much rock
Do you have a QT tank??
How many fish
When I moved my tanks, we accually had to move them twice. I used rubbermaid tubs. I loaded part of the rock and part of the fish, wil little water, loaded them into our van. I had water waiting at the new place and filled the tubs up the rest of the way, added hob filters and power heads.
They stayed like that for about two months while our house was being finished.
Once our house was done, I set up the new tank, and moved everything directly into the new tank.
I rinsed all the sand with clean saltwater, then filled the tank with new water and slowly added my rock and live stock

I moved a 30gal long several times. Get yourself a 30 gal plastic garbage can, bag all your fish, drain water into can add bagged fish (ok to leave some water in tank). Myself and my 2 brothers moved can into moving truck, two guys to move tank, set tank up add water back in wait a bit for water to clear while floating bags in tank add fish back to tank. Did this 4 times, once with a hippo tang wedged in a piece of coral, lifted entire coral with fish a put into can. Tang never came out of coral lifted coral out of can put him into tank. He final came out hours later after all fish were released. Good Luck

Congrats on the successful move!
Sooo....how did it work out when the GF said "Honey, let's move the sofa over....Hmmm...over here...no, over there, turn it...wait...no, I want it over there...and unbox those pictures while you are over there....Hmmm...you think purple paisley drapes would look good?"
And you replied "Hold up! I'm taking care of my tank first!"
