Hey i have a 72 tank with 80LS and 62LR and a lion fish, a trigger, puffer,and a snowflake eel and i am moving i was wounder what is the best way to go about moving everything Thanks.

Keep as much water as possible. Bag all the critters and keep all the LR wet. Use 5 gallon buckets with water tight tops for moving the water. Get a lot of buddies to help you out and do it as quick as possible. Make sure you can pack it up in the old house and immediatly move it into the new house. I guess you will have to take out your sandbed as well so try to do this with the least amount of disturbance, but expect to maybe have a little spike in nitrite when things are getting resettled. If possible get a quarintine tank for the fish while the new tank settles for a day or so. Or possibly buy some 10 gallons from walmart and return them when you are done. Its not that bad of a deal if you just relax and dont rush it.

How far are you going? Estimated time en route?
Some LFS can inject oxygen into fish bags to keep them a couple days in the bag, like when a fish is sent in the mail.

umm im not moving that far about half an hour away, i allso think that i need to keep the fish in another tank and tell my tank gets settled but if i take all of my sand out do i have to keep it wet or how do i do that, and that will be a lot of five gallon contaniers for 72g

you need to keep the sand moist yes. If not the bacteria in it could die off and then you go through another cycle. And yes, you will need a lot of 5 gallon buckets.

use trash cans i just got two 32 gal. for 3 dollars they are pretty handy.

i just moved my tank using buckets and what not...it went pretty well but definately be prepared for a "mini" cycle

you have to keep the weight in mind. A 5 gallon bucket full of water is already close to 50 pounds. Using a 32 gallon trash can would be way too much weight to carry.

trying to move a full trash can would be stupid but you can at least have more water than a 5 gal. bucket and if you have someone helping you then you won't have a problem. 5 gallons isn't 50 lbs.

two people carrying 133 lbs. would be nothing.

now do you have a problem with me and my gay lover? you know us queers, we don't take to homophobes very well. we usually take them down into our weight room where we have lots of trash cans filled half way with salt water, you know, about 133 lbs. (to prepare for moving tanks) and they never come out the same...

i guess you're right about the five gal. buckets though...it does make more sense than the trash cans...
